Ok here's the deal,

I just got a divorce and I would like to change the way the kitchen/living area look. They are joined so the design will have to flow together. The style I like is contemporary with an asian flair.

Here's the challenge, my existing kitchen cabinets are a honey oak finish and my appliences are white and I have a white tile countertop.

My budget is limited, but I'm pretty handy and am willing to invest "sweat equity".

How can I get the look that I want without replacing all three (cabinets, appliences, countertop). I want a stone countertop for sure, but the rest I'm open to suggestions.

Your help is appreciated.
