Hello.

We are redoing our basement to make it a part of our living space. We would like to use the space above the staircase as an art gallery, but we don't want family photos...

What artwork would you recommend for this space...We will also paint the area a different color than the basement walls...

Also, how should we visually place the artwork???

TIA

Lucil W.

Although I am not a big artsy type of person. One would think the art you wish to show should be able to shown with people standing close to it. Some photos/art must be seen from a distance to really see what the artist is trying to convey. Other art can be seen close up. Which in the case you can only stand three feet away from it. You also must choose lighting carefully. A track light down the middle with spots works good with this. I have seen in some homes countersunk boxes into the wall in which photos were placed. They then hid the lights within the box to create a shadow box type of look.

Good luck and put a photo of your mom in there!
