Is there anyone that has a cork floor and can give me some feedback on how they like it? We are remodeling our kitchen and considering putting in a cork floor. But can't find out much about it from people who have one.

Hi, We had a cork floor installed in our NYC apartment remodel. It really looks beautiful. The tiles were 1/4" thick cork.

There were a few problems however. The cork is completely finished and sealed with something, the tiles came that way. However, if you dragged something across the floor, or scratched it with something sharp, the scratches were there to stay. I dragged a heavy garbage bag across the floor on the 2nd day we had the floor and it left marks that kill me every time I look at them.

On the flip side, the floor is beautiful. If you drop something on it, it doesn't shatter whereas it used to on the tile floor. We have 3 little kids, so the floor is much softer in case one of them falls.

I'm not sure how well this floor would hold up to a high traffic area either. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Most cork floors are to be seal again once the floor has been installed. The finish applied at the mill is for material stability. Check the materials directions Most cases it recomends a High Quality water base poly urathane to be applied after the installation has sat for 48-72 hours... Check it out. It will get rid of those scuffs.
