Our circa 1950 home has hideous, chipped ceramic tile on the kitchen counters and backsplash. Is there a durable way to cover them until renovation (about 5 years down the road)? Removing them appears to be a big job of sawing off the entire countertop & chipping away at the backsplash.
Any ideas are welcome (outlandish or practical!).

You can do the old stanby. Paint the Tile. See your local paint store, Dunne Edwards Paint, or the like. They can show you the exact paint to use.
