I have a kitchen cabinet quandry whereby there are old, ugly, cabinet doors mixed with some new install. I plan to faux paint the entire kitchen cabinetry to match however, the old doors have an unattractive panelling like inset and I'd like to cut that out and reback with finely finished wood. Any other solutions to make the old doors look good before I paint them. Perhaps a website for new, unfinished doors that is reasonably prices?
if you type in search engine quality door, this is one source for unfinished doors. If you go that route though, make sure that you measure your door correctly. And the overlay of the door (how much the door overlaps the opening) will depend on what type of hinge you are using. It can be complicated. There are so many things you can do with the panel of your existing doors. Tin Punch, cut out centers and add something unique, like fabric, chicken wire, glass (so many option with glass)
Some of the dropped ceiling plexiglass light inserts have a nice pattern that can be used as door inserts. I replaced some yucky 1960's amber plexiglass is some cabinet doors with pieces of realtively plain translucent panel. They looked great and up-to-date. And I just saw a Trading Spaces TV show where the designer did the same thing.

You could also use TIN for a mod look. My favorite insert replacement is BEADBOARD. And Home Depot does sell new doors.
It might be cheaper to use someone elses cast outs. So many people are remodeling kitchens these days, there must be some really good hand-me-downs. Maybe you could find some at a salvage yard, on the computer, or just ask a kitchen remodeler if you can buy some he tears out. The cabinet gets torn up, but maybe the doors are easier to keep in tact.
