Ceramic tile wall has small area that needs repair. Small opening without signs of moisture. The wall is inward slightly. Area measures approx. 1 inch by 1/2 inch. Shower is not being used but would like ideas on repairing it. Should I re-grout or is it necessary to have entire wall done?

Had somewhat similar situation: Master bedroom
had only a shower. Noticed a small bit of grout that had come out after we bought the place. Went to remove the rest of the grout around the tile and the greenboard behind the tile fell between the studs. Apparently the problem was not new.

Have had two houses since, and generally when there is deformity, the wallboard itself seems to have a problem. Without knowing what's behind the tile, there is really no way to estimate the extent of the damage.

My gut says have someone come in to evaluate and give an estimate. After whichever job is finished, be sure that you keep sealing the grout periodicly.
