I'm thinking about purchasing into an older highrise to get a lake view in Chicago. I love the view of the unit, but I'm concerned about the fact that the windows are about 30 years old. Heat is included in my assessment so I don't have to worry about that, but I'm more concerned about efficiency and comfort. Anyone know of some good window manufacturer who deal with these types of windows. I don't think Anderson/Pella stock these size window. Any info to get me in the right direction would be appreciated.
I realize that any purchase/desciscion would have to be aggreed to by the condo association, but I want to educate myself in the mean time. It's probably going to take years not months before something is done because it will be a several million dollar expenditure on a 50+ story highrise.

Hello; Most of your window manufacturers make windows on demand. Meaning when I take an order for window replacements for a house I measure each one specifically and the manufacturer ( Certainteed Windows) makes the replacement windows specifically for each one. The only difference being that once you get over a certain size they charge more than their "standard" pricing rate. I hope this helps you out. The other beauty is all replacements can be done from the inside of the house ( even the chaulking)
