We just bought a house where former owner put tile on the wall I guess for back splash. I want to change it out but do not want to damage drywall. Any idea's?

I'm sorry to tell you but there isn't much of a way to get tile off a wall without damaging at least some of the drywall. Get a grout removal bit and use your Dremel tool to get the grout out and then you may be able to pry off the old tiles. You will still end up with some damage but if you are going to replace with new tile then you wouldn't need to be as worried about damage because you will only be covering it up again! Hope this helps...

Thank you for your reply. I was afraid I was going to be told that. Wonder what that new stainless steel looking stuff would look like?

Actually, new construction would prob. use "Dura rock"( a cement composite board) instead of drywall under most tile- esp. where it will be exposed to water - no rottening or deteriration. Removing tiles are messy, but not an impossible job.-if you're putting tiles back up-you can skim coat or patch drywall.-- There is paint that can be used on tile -- but it has to be very clean and oil-free.

Thank you Siber for your reply. The big job is
going to be how to get all the grout used off.
I saw yesterday on I Want That! that peel and stick that looks like Stainless Steel and Copper
and Bronze. That looked really easy on the show. Will let you know!

You might see if the tiles were put up with an adhesive vice a cement based product. If so, using a heat gun will heop in removing the tiles.

no, once tile is up, it's over... you're going to have to do a lot of spackling to smooth over the ruins, i know
