I have granite counter top coming in the next week and have decided to use an 18" over hang for seating (husband 6"4"). The contractor will put in temp. support but... I understand any over hang past 9"-12" needs extra support. Any ideas for a clean look such as corbals and the best place to order them? I have porcelain finished Cherry cabnets with flat slab doors. The counter top will be peacock (black with green and silver accents) with stainless steel appliances.

Forgot to mention the floors are travertine. I can not use metal. It damages the floors.

Home Depot, Lowes, Hobby Lobby, many pottery shops, and nurseries also have a variety of wood, stone, ceramic, and other synthetic corbels.

Thanks, any ideas on how it should be constructed? I have seen wood attached to top and bottom in an L shape with the corbal attached at both ends & just L shaped corbals. But my biggest question is how far out should the support be?

Your granite counter provider should be able to give you answers - but I always have supports about 2/3 of depth of overhang. Corbels need to be firmly anchored to the wall(in a stud)- for adequate support. Your cabinet company can manufacture corbels that will match you cabinets (although all cannot do the fancy carving) A "temporary" 2x4 support (with protection under it so it won't scratch the floor)- can hold the counter while the glue dries - until you get your corbels in. Corbels do not generally go to the floor, but are "L-Shaped" brackets. The number of corbels needed depend on the length of the bar.
