just got this gun new in the box. i'm a newbie starting a project this weekend. do i need to lubricate before first use? whats the lubrication technique?

I own the same model. Although it's a little vaque, the instructions state that you should put a drop or two of lubricating oil in the air inlet port (where the hose connects up) prior to each day of usage. It really boils down to the frequency and duration that you use your gun. If you use your gun extensively, you may want to re-lubricate at mid-day or perhaps lubrication at less frequent intervals if usage is only intermittant. It's also a good idea to exercise your gun on a regular basis because letting it sit idle for months on end is not good for the diaphram or seals as they will tend to dry and crack.
