Anyone see any problem with putting a ridge beam in under collar ties? Situatuion is this: bottom of collar ties are about 1 ft down from ridge. Plan on putting a piece of 2x12 under the rafters so to match up with bottom of collar ties, and then put in ridge beam. This way the load will transfer to ridge beam.

If you mean an actual ridge beam, meaning a girder that would support the rafters, I see no problem with that part of it, provided the collar ties remain and the rafters have full bearing on the 2x12 (not just one point), but your big problem then occurs at the ends of the girder, which will place considerable loads on whatever supports the girder, and those loads must have a continuous structurally adequate path from the ends of the girder directly all the way down to the earth, including footings large enough to carry the concentrated loads.
