I have a 1960 Florida house. The previous owners installed a new door that leads to my garage. Whether it be rain or just spraying a hose on the door it leaks. All the weather stripping is on the door, but we did discover that the door is a swing out door hung backwards. However, the way that they installed the door, it will create significant damage to remove the door and install it properly. Is there anything else that can be done? Like a certain type of threshold? We turned the garage into a family room, and can't put the flooring in until this is fixed.

It's really hard to comment without seeing the whole picture. Is it safe to assume from your comments that the door only leaks at the bottom? If so, you might look for a type of threshhold which has interlocking weatherstripping. It will have a continuous sheet metal fin on the bottom of the door...well maybe fin isn't the most descriptive word...maybe "flange" might be better. It will interlock into a matching groove in the threshhold, which will usually be extruded aluminum. Be sure the threshhold is set in a full bed of a sealant which will remain pliable.
