I am trying to frame a 12" soffit on a new garage and I am having a difficult time.

When I framed and stood the walls up I made sure that they where both plum and the top plate level.

I had the trusses installed by a professional.

I then measured 12" from the wall sheathing to the bottom of the rafter on each end truss and marked by using a level to make sure the line is plum

I then ran a string across all trusses and marked each truss using the level to ensure plum.

All is fine up to this point.

When I installed the nail board against the wall and then checked for level from the bottom of the rafter to the nail board is is not staying level. I studied the problem for about an hour and gave up.

Can someone suggest how I make the nail board level both on the wall and with the bottom of the cut rafter?

Thanks

Jon
