During our kitchen, we started tearing the tile and particleboard off our kitchen floor today. Found a section of the subfloor with some dry rot, so we replaced it. Our subfloor is 1 & 1/2 inch T&G planking,7" wide over 4x6's on 4 ft centers. As this damage was at a step-down area, I was able to cut the plank, slide it out and slide a new 8ft section in. The thought has now arisen, how do you replace T&G planks that can't be slid out?

I've seen it done where a floor has buckled. What they did was remove the old plank by a brutal method, and then cut the bottom of the new plank's groove away and kind of drive it into place sideways. This was done with finished oak flooring. It might be more difficult with 1 1/2-inch thick subfloor, but maybe not.
