Seemingly all of a sudden, our basement has taken on a new smell. I can only describe it as smelling like halitosis. It's not musty at all. In fact, the smell became apparent shortly after we installed a heavy duty dehumidifier. Probably a coincidence but odd. There is no smell coming from the dehumidifier output...in fact we stopped running it because of the odd smell...but the smell remains. It's an unfinished basement-100 year old house. No drainage, sewage problems apparent.
