How do we modify our yard in order to pass a perk test with the town? We have a septic system and would like to install an above ground pool. Is there a way to aide in passing a perk test if the ground has a poor soil condition?
There are ways, which would cost more than the pool. You're already pushing your luck with a septic system. A lot depends on the type of soils that exist, not only at the surface, but up to 15 feet down into the earth. A test pit or two will reveal that information, and a good civil engineer should be able to take it from there.
What you're probably looking at is removing a large amount of soil and replacing it with more suitable soil, or possibly constructing very deep seepage pits. There's no way to know without knowing what soils there are now.

I don't understand why they would require this if it is an above ground pool. Sure, an underground I can see but if you aren't moving the septic for the pool then I don't see the logic. I'd check back with the city and make sure they understand the pool is above ground, not below.
