I have a large kitchen with outdated wallpaper that was installed improperly. I cannot removed it w/out sheetrock coming off. Can I cover the paper and disguise the texture. Any help would be appreciated.
I would seek the assistance of a professional wallpaper hanger, they may have the solution you need. If all wallpaper removing materials/chemicals/steaming have failed to help remove the old wallpaper your only options would be to cover the existing walls with a layer of 1/4" sheetrock or have the existing 1/2" sheetrock replaced with new. If you can get the paper off and have minor sheetrock paper damage, there is a product call "Draw Tite". You apply it like paint to the damaged areas to avoid blisters and bubbles when applying patching compound to the areas thereafter. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem--wallpaper was applied directly to sheetrock that had not been properly prepared. Rather than putting new sheetrock over, I had a paint and wallpaper guy apply a layer of drywall mud or joint compound over the wall where the wallpaper was. Then I applied primer and painted it--looks great.
