Seeking innovative minded contractors who want to be part of a 'first' in Nebraska. Enertia Building Systems will be the basis of our new home, north of Omaha. (www.enertia.com for more details. Arcadia 3248 w/ Great Room added) This will be a timber structure, all electric and the concept itself creates a passive solar, passive geo-thermic environment (passive = no panels, no tubes) for year-round living comfort. Radiant floor heat system is the only 'back-up' necessary (no HVAC) preference for radiant heat is electric grid and/or mat system. Pre-manufactured timber coming from North Carolina (southern yellow pine) can be viewed via our floor plans and/or at Enertia's website. This will be assembled here, constituting 60-70% of the overall home. Roof system calls for 10" SIP panels or a more cost effective alternative creating an R-40 rating (essential to the overall Enertia concept) open to innovation and suggestion. Velux is preferred for; skylights are essential to the Enertia concept for summer-time venting. (mostly over sunspace, south exposure of home). Twice as much 'glass' (windows) as a conventional home. HURD has the glass bid so far and is recommended and based on Enertia's thirty years of experience and trial. Interior walls will remain timber and be stained, no need for drywall, except for interior rooms, i.e. Master Bedroom, Master Bath, Master Closet, half-bath, coat closet. Remainder of main structure is open area concept incorporating Kitchen, Living and Dining rooms. Flooring will be Armstrong laminates and Ceramic/Porcelain stone tile to work best with radiant floor heating. Cabinetry for Kitchen and Master Bathroom is owner designed and emphasizes 'pantry pull-outs' over cupboards and conventional drawers. Schematic/drawings available to those with great interest in this project. PEX plumbing throughout, incorporating electric tank less water heater (Seisco is preferred so far), as well as whole-house water treatment system. Master Bath will have a Steam Shower/Whirlpool combined unit. (Ariel brand is preferred so far). Plumbing is very centralized with only one "straying" for Kitchen. Foundation needs to support increased 'load' of Enertia timber walls, 3 - 4 times conventional home weight. Above grade level is just less than 2200 sq ft; lower level (basement and sub-level garage) is approximately the same.
Seeking innovative minded construction professionals, who want to participate in a simple, yet not so.... home building project. I am a Sales & Marketing professional and will make sure those who participate will receive full recognition for their contributions. Enertia homes around the country have a high request rate for tours (not the reason we are building this) as this takes place with this home I will make available a brochure which details who took part and what they accomplished with us.
Please contact us as soon as possible with questions and intentions. I will get floor plans out; can also send to you in PDF format.
