I just watched the clip on porous concrete and blacktop. It sounds like a positive idea, but I have a question:

What would keep the paving from exploding during a freeze/thaw cycle? I'm picturing melt water going into the paving and freezing there, causing expansion damage.

Why won't that happen? Is there any history of this kind of paving being used in the areas that have frequent freeze/thaw cycles?
