I have an older stand alone shower, and the tiles & caulking have cracked along the edge allowing water to seep into the wall. My son leaned up against the wall, and the drywall caved in. How much of that drywall will have to be replaced? And do I need to have the whole shower wall taken out? I've attached pictures of the crack (which does not run the entire length of the wall), and the whole in the drywall.

If you can afford to have it replaced. The reason being is that, if moisture gets in there which the chances are high you are looking at a potential mold problem. Fell free to go to my website mlstesting.com and browse there is some good info there about bathrooms. You really have to watch when you are dealing with moisture getting into void spaces. There are some people who go by "out of sight out of mind" unfortunately for them later on down the road they have to spend alot of money repairing a serious mold infestation when they could have avoided it.
