I am seeking opinions on the best place to seam a granite counter run which is 11 ft 1 inch long. The slab impala black is about 10 ft long leaving a small piece in the corner by wall of 13 inches as currently designed templated. Installer suggested an alternative would be in middle of counter (much more noticeable to us) or would a location in the center between two drawers be a break point such as 16 or 32 inches from the wall instead of 13 inches.

Better place yet is in middle of sink. short seam on each side of sink easy to hide.
Other then that pick the end which is not seen as easy from outside the room. The lower the angle you look the easier it can be seen.
so when your farther away the seam will stand out more because of the reflective nature of the stone.
But any good counter company worth their salt should be able to seam this with little effort and is should hide quite well. Black is a fairly easy color to seam. Its the lighter colors that oftemtimes is harder.

Thanks for reply! Great, current seam location is least visible as it is 13 inches from wall separating the kit from dining where cabinets and counter start, not frequently used area except to get dishes out... The other end of kitchen 15 ft long is open to the dinette family room (no sink on this 15 length,11 ft counter and dropdown to 4 ft desk).

(have spent extra to avoid any seams on raised eating counter with angles taking it from 12 inches wide to paying for 36 inches for an 8 ft total length. Installer said ok to go from an existing 12 inch laminate eating counter to a 14 inch 3 cm granite eating counter on 4 existing corbels with overhang of about 2.75 inches off end of corbel (total overhang 12 in with top resting on top of laminate cabinet back and granite backsplash with about 1 inch overhang. 10 inch long corbels (by 9 inch under counter) are attached to custom laminate cabinets with one also screwed to a part of a shelf 1/2 inch adding to thickness...

granite installer said 14 inches ok at template measuring but not 16 inches without larger corbels (tho he liked 12 total inch better than 14 in - tho I am paying for or contracted at 16 inch width which installer said no concern when measuring to bid) Any thought on support for eating bar... welcome (no extra 2x4 support for attaching corbels.....) or other info noted

Also paying extra to get one seam by angled sink below angled raised eating counter (instead of 2 seams to accomodate angle) which just works with total slab width

Paying extra but getting a good price per sq ft and no extra charges for angles.. (or half bullnose)

Any comments welcome
