SmilerI am trying to find out how to wire a five light floor couch lamp. It is the light that sits behind your couch and extends out over the couch. It has five separate negative and positve wires coming out of each light and I want to install a new switch. I tried wiring all the positive and negative wires and adding the switch with those two sets of wires but that wasn't correct. is there anyone that knows about this?

Hi Val1958

Take the 5 hot (positive) wires from the lights and join them all together and feed one side of the switch with them, the other side of the switch needs to be connected to the hot (positive) wire from the source (Plug, panel) the Neutral wires will all need to be connected together and then connected to the neutral wire coming from the source. This should solve your problem.

P.S. Please ensure power is turned off when attempting any electrical work.
