We've just bought a 1950'2 house. The owners decorated the DR, LR, 2 BR's and even the panels of the bedroom doors with grasscloth. HOW do you get this off with the least amount of frustration????? Does steaming work best? Is it a 2 step process to get the cloth itself off, then the paper backing? HELP , please !!!!!!!! Thanx ! Kathy

When I removed the grasscloth from my bathroom walls and ceiling (what were they thinking?) I found what worked best for me was to wet down the paper with hot water (wear rubber gloves) and scrape with a medium putty knife, being careful to not go through the paper on the drywall underneath.
Be sure to wash all the glue off the walls (try a strong solution of **** and Span) otherwise whatever you replace the grasscloth with (paint or more wallpaper) won't stick. I had to wash the walls twice to get all the glue off.
