Argo ARM-2P Adding a Zone

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello

I have installed plumbing including a ciculatory pump for baseboard heat, in my basement. The Burnham Series 2 Furnace has an Argo ARM-2P Electrical Box with 2 (First Floor and Upper Bedroom Floor) Thermostat wires connected.

The unit has a transformer that, according to the user manual online, can handle up to 15 zones. It also has a terminal that provides 24 VAC that is unused.

I would like advice on how to connect electrically, the added Circulatory Pump and the Thermostat for the Basement Baseboard heat system to work.

I don't know if I can upload a picture of the unit on this site.

Thank You

Trevor

I assume you already have the manual. It didn't appear to address your particular question, but the second link will pull it up. The first link looks much more useful, though I have to admit that it would take me some time to step through and understand all of the information.

You need to read the wiring diagram for an answer.
Can you provide us with the link to the online manual and wire diagram. Perhaps then we can assist you in the connection process.

Hello & Thanks for your feedback

The following links were provided by LA Marlowe in reply to my query.

http://www.ecrinternational.com/secure/upload/document/507.pdf

installation and operations manual:
http://www.ecrinternational.com/secure/upload/document/525.pdf

The latter document/525.pdf (page 17) says that a AD-1 Expansion module plugs into the ARM-2P (Which is a 2 zone unit)

That is as far as I can understand.

I have very limited electrical knowledge and vocabulary to understand any more. I need to be explained in layman's terms (baby language) where to plug in the AD-1 expansion module, where to get the 120 volt supply from for the AD-1, and where to attach the two thermostat wires.

Grateful for your help.

Thanks

Trevor

First let me say that I am not an electrician, or an HVAC guy, or any sort of expert at all, really. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to do this installation myself in my own home. It looks quite straightforward, but if you have any doubts at all, please spend a few more bucks and hire a professional. If you are stubborn, or determined, then please ensure that the power is turned off before you touch any of this. Don't trust that you know the breaker is off, test it with an electrical tester that you know is working.

Page 5 of the 507.pdf looks like it shows exactly what you need. It shows the AD-1 with its connecting cable. The incoming 120 VAC power ties in to the existing power coming in to the ARM-2P; Please note that if the diagram is accurate then the N & L terminals are flipped left to right on the AD-1 so if the black wire is on the left on the ARM-2P then it will be on the right on the AD-1. The two terminals just to the left of the incoming power on the AD-1 will wire to the new pump and the R-W terminals to the upper right of the unit are for the 2-wire thermostat.

I welcome input and criticism from people on this board who know a lot more about this than I do. Best of luck to you!

LA Marlowe, Thank you for your help. As you pointed out, the info is in the manual and all I had to do was look for it.
I have ordered the AD-1 from Patriot-Supply 1-866-321-4822 and will install it tomorrow. An added bit of info is that the 120V supply can be from any source, not necessarily from the ARM-2P.

Many Thanks again.

Brgds
