I have some minor repairs to do on my roof but if I use the right materials maybe I can get a tax credit. But is there a minimum I have to spend?

You need to put on an entire roof in order to gain any tax credit if one is available.
That would be like asking for credit on a new window and only putting half of the window in and keeping the older half that is not broken in place.
