I just brought a new home and now seemingly I am baking on the second floor. I have been told that I need to get ventilation for the roof and with a flat roof the only answer is to insert a turbine ventilator. I have also been told a aura ventilator is better. And I am being told neither one will provide any relief. What can I do?chamchad@hotmail.com

By just installing any kind of vent in the roof will do little to help your condition.
You must also provide some sort of intake for ventilation unit, regardless of type to work.
With flat roofs this is often tricky as there is little if any overhang aound the edge of the roof.
A contractor should be able to construct some sort of opening on the side walls in which to allow air to enter. This area of air entry should be above any insulation that is within the attic. You may find that if the contractor can install vents on both ends or on all sides of the house leading into the attic area you will not need any ventilation openings on the flat roof. Not something you really want anyway as sealing a flat roof from leaks is tricky at best. So any additional openings you put into the roof is only an invitation for future leaks.

Be sure also that you have at least R30 insulation in the attic area as well.
