I recently had my brick house painted. Since it was painted I have started to get what appears to be spalling of the brick in various parts of the house. The paint contractor has said it is not his problem and is unwilling to fix it. Does any one know what could cause the proble and how to fix it?
Usually spalling of brick is due to a non-breathing coating that holds in moisture that can freeze and spall of a brick face.
Causes could be the wrong type of paint, too thick a layer of paint or an accumulation of paint layers, that can create a barrier to vapor stansmission.
