Hi! This is my first post. I am in the process of buiding a new home and I have read a lot about the Anderson storm watch windows. Is their anyone out their hat has them? Do they cut outa lot of light? I worry that I may be sacrificing the view for storm protection. Thank you in advance for your response.

Impact windows - including Andersen's Storm Watch - are made with laminated glass, upgraded hardware, upgraded frames and other components, and all sealed in place with some of the strongest silicone (or other) adhesives on the market.

Laminated glass is simply two (or more) lites of glass bonded to a plastic interlayer for strength.

Depending on where you live, you might be looking at either a monolithic unit (one pane of laminated glass) or at an IGU (Insulating Glass Unit - or dual pane - with one pane laminated and one pane "regular" glass).

There is some visible transmittance loss everytime you add an additional pane to a window, but in real life you will never notice the difference. If you were to put in a "regular" window and then an impact resistant window next to one another in your home, you wouldn't be able to tell which was which simply from looking through them.
