WE are going to build a new home and I am really not sure what type of windows to use.

WE live in NE Ohio and the west is protected by trees.

WE are looking at the Anderson 200 series clad in aluminum or the Jeld Wen vinyl windows.

I know the Jeld wens are less expensive, do you have any imput into which is an overall better window for effeciency and durability?

Andersen windows are clad in vinyl, not aluminum, and they are wood windows clad in vinyl, not simply vinyl. I'm not familiar with Jeld-Wen products.

Richard is correct, the Anderson 200 series is a vinyl clad wood window. I myself just replaced all my old wood single pane (w/spring balancers) windows with this model this past summer. I like the profile and especially the cost!. I was pleasantly surprised this past winter with it's performance, especially on my very windy North facing side of the house. Can't beat this window for the price. I think I bought ~ 35x31 sized windows at a cost of $198 at HD. The only slight negative, which I had not noticed when buying them, is that the included half screen is a pop-out style, vs. the more traditional vertical sliding style.
