Has anyone experience with Schuco replacement windows? I am interested in replacing 30 yr old original pella casements w/triple glazed window. Pella & anderson options are extremely expensive requires going down to rough opening. pella & renewal by anderson opts have been met with less than favorable satisfaction from reports i've read

The biggest problem with replacement windows (retrofits), is there's no seal to the framing, i.e. flashing, moisture barrier, nailing fin. You are copletely relying on caulk. These type of windows are the rage now, but as a contractor, I advise against retrofits. You are beter off spending a little more money and use new construction windows, with a nailing fin.
