Hi, my doorbell (button) had too much 'play' in it,,,& then it failed to ring...so we replaced the button outside, & to my surprise after installing it...It did not work! So, I bought another one...& it too, did Not work...so I purchased a combo Chimes & Doorbell button...it too will Not work either! The wires are Not crossed, but yet we can't get the doorbell working! So, I ran into a different method to use (Wiresless), it's nice & didn't need to do anything but add 3 c-cell batteries ..Promblem solved........BUT...I now find that the wireless set now dings & chimes at different hours of the day & night, hahaha. Changing the batteries solved that issue....My thing is ...What could cause my doorbell Not to work in the first place, even After we replaced it?

You again?? Smiler

When you replaced it, did you replace all the wiring? If not, and you used the existing concealed wiring, perhaps a break in the wire has occurred. It could even be broken inside the insulation, so the break would not be visible. A continuity tester would discover the presence , but not the exact location, of the break.
