Our home faces the west and gets the hot sun in the afternoon/evenings. Over time, our painted metal front door with 2 glass inserts started oozing some sort of sticky glue from (I guess) inside the door. It's like sap or resin. I've tried everything I could think of to remove it. Any ideas? It really looks ugly and now I'm considering replacing the door. But the door is fine except for the oozing sticky stuff just below the 2 glass panels. If I could just clean if off the door would be fine.

Help please!

Kathy

What you are seeing is probably the adhesive sealant used to plant the glazing frame in the door. I have seen this happen before. Try some denatured alcohol and elbow grease. You don't want to use any really harsh solvents that will affect the plastic glazing frame. Sometimes WD-40 will disolve the stuff too.

What color is the door painted. All door manufactures state not to paint a dark color. If you do it's nothing more then a solor panel and the foam inside the door will settle and the sealent used inside the window frames will melt.
If there's a storm door over the door it mades it that much worst.

Where all stupid, just in different subjects.
