people keep talking about how nat gas is goign up but I think its still best value over eletric. but what is really best. i kno my gas gets the house very warm indeed but my freind says his hosue gets real hot to with his eletric. so what is better.

both are best. Not a real good answer, but a lot depends on where you live, how your house is built and insulated, and if the heating system(s) are properly sized for the house/rooms.

Currently natural gas is quite low in cost and according to what I have read it will stay that way compared to other fuels for a fairly long while. But in some parts of the country electical costs are such that it does not make sense to use gas.

Also homes that use electical power for everything, heating, cooling, cooking etc get discounts on the use. Add a gas hot water heater to the mix, they loose some of this discount. Be sure to add this to the mix if your comparing these two fuels.
