This is what I find - most customers will listen to a sales guy - and buy $15,000 worth of new stuff - that they don't need - instead of spending the $250.00 to get an energy audit first to find out that they need a new higher efficiency furnance versus new windows. Most customers are too ignorant to know why they have mold on their windows. Green building / energy efficiency in residential is weak - customers don't spend money on that - I know because that is what I do and I'm moving to commercial. Also they expect the government to pay for it.

I think Troy makes a good point. I believe most consumers don't know what products they will actually benefit from. I feel it is up to us, as service providers, to educate our clients on sustainability products. Unfortunately, there is a large learning curve, but if we continue to share our knowledge we will all definitely be heading in the right direction.
