Gas in Massachusetts for regular ranges from 3.19 to as high as 3.68. Yes it is affecting my business, but the way business is how can we raise the price of our products? Breaks my heart to put gas into my car but what can we do? We are all in the same boat.
now that gas prices are rising i stay at home a lot more than usual. i only drive when i have to take our 4 children to school. or if i have to take our son to flag football practice and games which are 16 miles away from our town. my dad puts gas in our van for us and tells us that we have to make it last until the next week and sometimes we even have to make it last until we have to make a trip to amarillo which is 3 hours away for special doctors for our son and two of our three daughters. so the gas prices have effected us quite a bit. from july until the middle of august, me and the kids would make the 16 mile trip to meet my husband on his lunch breaks and eat with him. but since the gas prices are more than $3 a gallon we don't go unless we have to.
Yeah, I'm retired too. Although I'll be 63 this month, I either run, walk or bike if the destination is 5 or so miles. I also built a motorized bicycle that goes 30 miles per hour on flat ground and gets 200 miles per gallon. I use that for a little more extended trips. When I finally use a car I try to make a multi-tasked trip. It's not that I can't afford the gas, it's because I'm trying to conserve it for you!!!!
I am at a loss... I am a realtor and am finding it very expensive to conduct business on a daily basis. When prospective clients fail to show up for their appt there is a trip - and gas wasted....
I'm driving less. I am also driving differently... going slower. Coasting on the downhills helps save a little gas too. When I go out, I do most of my errands in concentrated areas. I keep an errand list and when I have 5 or more places to go, I get it done rather than spontaneously running out for each individual errand. As far as gas price shopping goes, I really wish some of the discount gas stations would give their prices over the phone, but they all say it is against their policy. As result, everyone drives around wasting gas and looking for the best price. And to think Mobil/Exxon posted 10 billion dollars profit last quarter. I haven't seen any publication of them making any donation to the victims of Katrina... hmmm.
We have no idea of how gas prices domino into inflated consumer prices. Virtually everything we consume is trucked, flown, shipped or railed into our areas. The increased gas prices are being passed on to the consumers... commercial airlines, utilities and all goods. All goods with plastics in them are going up... even poly materialed clothing.
