I had Lowe's install Pella windows in my home. What a nightmare. Rather than the professional appearance of the installers in thier commercials, my installer showed up in a used U-Haul truck that he had painted with a brush. He looked as if he had not bathed in a month and smelled like a dead animal After they finished their work, I noticed that they had CAULKED SHUT EVERY WEEP HOLE IN EVERY WINDOW. In addition, aluminum sills were fabricated in random widths so that nothing matched. Most of the sills slope TOWARD THE HOUSE, so that rain puddles on every sill. The Pella factory Rep said he had never seen a sloppier installation. The Lowe's managers refuse to do anything about the installer bacause they cannot find a qualified person who will work for what he does. I have been trying to resolve this with Lowe's for over 6 months and they have been completely unresponsive. Their attitude is that they have my money and if I want them to correct the problems with the windows I will have to take them to court. Their installers are incompetent, their store managers are liars, and their corporate philosophy seems to be "Screw the customer". Avoid them like the plague.

There is such a thing as a Certified Window Installer". Some quality builder do not install windows using their own crews and hire a certified installer.

Eliminates a lot of leaks, moisture, mold and insurance problems down the road for those that look ahead.
