Just wondering if it is suitable to use 3/4" CDX ply for my kitchen countertop or is it too rough? I will use a 1/2" backerboard over the plywood. If the CDX isn't recommended, what would be? Thanks in advance

Can anyone advise me? I'd like to get started by this coming weekend. Being 3/4" isn't the question but rather if CDX is a suitable substrate? Thanks

CDX

CDX plywood is classified as an "exposure" type of sheathing rather than an "exterior." This means that CDX plywood should only be used inside or on surfaces that will not be exposed to water once the building process is complete.

No, use 3/4 AC or 3/4 Advantec. You would only need 1/4" tile board not 1/2"

Where all stupid, just in different subjects.
