i'm not sure if i should post in this section. anyways, i have a 24x40 with two entries added on one 8x8 and an 8x12. anyways, we got some bad advice to build our house half way underground. instead of block we were told to use treated lumber. to make a long story short we have water issues. i'm just wondering if it's possible to lift the house 8ft to put in a basement with block... and if this is possible how do we make a floor since we set the house right on the slab. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you have a issue here. Normally homes that can be raised have an existing floor structure in which to hold the wall system. In your case with a slab and the walls being fastened to this your into a very expensive project. What you would need to do is to remove the bottom two feet of the interior and exterior wall coverings. Then fasten structural framing around the entire both inside and out. Once that is done this structural frame then can be used by the house lifters to raise the home using a very large crane or jacks. You must however construct some sort of framing system that mimics the floor system to keep the house square and stiff. Not doing so the house will simply twist and begin to fall apart. One the house is lifted temp supports will hold it up until a new block foundation can be constructed along with a new floor system in which the sills can rest.
You need the advice of a professional house mover and structural engineer as well. There are many pitfalls that can and often do arise when undertaking a feat such as this.
You may find it is quicker and faster to demo the home and rebuild or purchas a pre-done modular structure.
Let us know what you end up doing.
