I had to learn this the hard way and I want to share my wisdom on what to do and not to do when purchasing cabinet remodeling items. Remember these tips it will save you money and stress. Check the company you selected to buy from with the Better Business Bureau make sure they are given a good rating before you do business with them, if they rate then poorly then look for another company that ranks high with the BBB. Having the lowest prices doesn't mean anything if they have a poor rating with the BBB or no listing with the BBB. Just because someone else used them doesn't make them good and reputable. Use companies that resolve customer service issues. Next is make sure you know the company freight policy on damages and claims. I don't know about any of you but for me I have dealt with freight claims before and they can be a real pain. So I try to find companies that handle damage freight claims for me I have enough stress with the remodel end of things. Also find out who is to pay additional shipping costs such as residential deliveries($68), residential lift gate service($100), delivery appointments($20). When a company says they pay the freight or Free shipping those terms do not include the charges I mentioned above they mean standard, regular fees. These can add up so your cheaper priced items just cost you the same if not more than the other company. Finally, look for product warranties on the items you purchase from cabinet doors, flooring, appliances etc. this also affects the cost of your project.
This is very true I had my education in extra charges when I had found this outrageously cheap price on a granite countertop for an island we had added when we remodeled our kitchen. The granite was cheap but the shipping is what nearly sent me to the ER room. I opted to have it shipped to my home instead (of me going to the local terminal) I had to pay the freight hauler $75 and because they called me they charged me $25(appointment fee) even though no appointment was made and I went to them didn't matter also figure in the cost of gas to get there and back $10. This cheap priced piece of granite ended up costing me an additional $110. Companies made say they have the cheapest price but when it get right down to it the prices are all about the same. I learned my lesson the expensive way. Now I am more cautious and make sure I do all my homework on a company first then I buy.
