How do you go about getting into a parade of homes? Do you just buy property in a neighborhood where they're planning one in the next couple of years? Or do you have to do a whole subdivision yourself?

Most Parade of Homes is put together by your local Home Builder Association.

The majority of my parade homes are spec houses that happen to be unsold at the time of the parade so I put them in.

Some builders will specifically build a home designed to show off their work or their suppliers products for the parade. These houses will be planned and sited and scheduled so they will be ready for parade time. These are a ton of work ususally.

Building mod-homes is my passion!

We want to get our revolutionary idea for adding on a second story into our local Parade of Homes...thanks for the suggestions.

What is a Mod home? A modular home?

I built the only modular OR ever built in Florida...very fun.

If you are going to be in a parade, make sure you ask your suppliers for discounts. Many of them such as suppliers of cabinets, counters, appliances, furniture stores etc will offer you a discount for showing thier product as long as you label where they came from and supply literature during the show. Also manufacturers have programs available in addition to the supplier. Dont forget designers as well. You can get help putting it all together by a local interior designer who is willing to provide services for free or discounted if you advertise the work. Good Luck
