So I am an upstart in the midwest doing small budget/short turn around interior design and redesign. Everything under $5,000 and less than four days.

Right now the company is just part time, really focusing on the $3,500 range. I have a business model to deliver a quality service and great profit margin.

My question is what is the most cost effective "grassroots" way to market this service to middle class homeowners and executive, law, and medical offices?

I have generated some interest by using craigslist and some direct mail. We dont have a lot of money to spend on print ad as in newspapers, but we will be listed in the yellow pages. However we can produce flyers and mailers cheaply.

Our challenges seem to be introducing the service to the community. Once they figure out how it works they love the idea. Id like to generate 4-5 jobs per month for now. What you think is the best marketing route to invest in.

Join a local business networking group, they usually have weekly meetings. It isn't so much what belonging to the group gives you, but it gives you a chance to talk to other small business owners in the area, and you can pick their brains about what kind of marketing gives the best bang for the buck. Good luck!

Dear Doctors, DanLeig offered an excellent starting idea and an inexpensive way to talk to PEOPLE in business about what you can do. There's no shortchanging the value of networking and every succesfull businessperson will tell you it's the PEOPLE you know who can help you. Since you don't have money spend your time where your customers are. Good Luck.
