New white grout, client changed mind after seeing contrast. What product can we use to stain white grout to black? Artist water color or some dye? Tile is a glass 1x1 square on mesh.
Here are a couple of links. I was thinking that an anoline dye (sp?) would be much better than anything water based, but apparently there are other products on the market to do just what you're needing.
Best thing for you to use would be Aquamix's grout colorant. It's an epoxy based colorant that works well and lasts. It also permanently seales the grout. Below is a link to purchase it on line, and also a link to another forum thread that gives instructions on how to use it. Refer to post #2 on that forum thread:
Home Depot and Lowes both carry products for this. They tell me that they are not as effective/rich in the long run as it would be to color the grout during mixing.
Not trying to be argumentative but the Aquamix product is epoxy based, and will stand up to whatever you dish out to it, for as long as you wish to dish it out, and will keep the color just as bright years later as it was when you first applied it.
And before anyone asks, no, I'm not an Aquamix rep, nor do I have anything to do with the company, except for being very pleased when I've used their products on my installations.
