I live in Ocala-N. central florida-it seems I can't find any builders who have stepped up to the modern practices used today. I can'y find one who uses post tension slabs, something other than cb, structured wiring is a different language...how do I find a good, reasonble builder who uses modern products, some "green" "products" please, point me in the proper dirrection. Thanks; Mike

Post-tensioned slabs are usually used to resist forces from expansive soils under them. I'm not aware of expansive soils in Florida, but perhaps there are some.

If the majority of builders are avoiding so-called "modern" practices, there may be reasons. Many are either very expensive or somewhat impractical, or even unnecessary. It will take some time for the "green" fad to settle out, with the sensible practices surviving and the others falling by the wayside. Sometimes products which appear to be "green" are not so green when all things are taken into account.

Building is a process where it pays to be conservative. Some new ideas are quickly integrated into the general building vocabulary. Others are not, and some shouldn't be.

Mr. Hetzel;
You are knowledgable and patient in your practice. I retired on major, life threatening injuries that I received in the line of duty as a N.Y.C. Detective. I hope that throughout my career I treated people with patience as you have done with me. The information you have given me is very helpful...thanks; Mike
