Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but can you move into your renovated house BEFORE the Certificate of Occupancy is issued in New York?

IT's not a good idea to move in before you get your CO. In some states if you do, it VOIDS the building permit. The reason for the CO is to make sure the house is safe to live in "ie" smoke detectors are in place, hand rails are installed, covers on outlets, ect. Check with your building inspector they may let you move your belongings in to the house to store them as long as you are not living there.

You might risk getting insurance on the property too.
