Hi. I am new to the site. I recently completed tiling a shower unit from scratch. I ripped out the fiberglass unit and put tile in. My question is this, When I go to grout the tile, I have heard that the corners need to have silicone in them. Now is this before I grout, put the silicone in the corners or after I grout and the grout dries, then put silicone in the corners? Do I need to grout and seal the corners and then use the silicone? Need some clarification please.

No silicone necessary.

After grouting the job, wait 2-3 days and seal with a quality sealer.

Use the stuff in a bottle that is applied with a sponge. Stay away from cheap stuff in a hairspray can.

TileLab makes a good product and can be found at Home Depot.

I'm sorry, but I've got to disagree. ALL changes in plane (from one wall to the next, from floor to wall, wall to tub, etc.) MUST be caulked. I don't like using silicone though. I much prefer to use a siliconized latex made by the same manufacturer as the grout so that it will match the grout as closely as possible in both color and texture (sanded or unsanded)
