I've got an old redwood cabin that I want to insulate the walls on. I tore off all the interior wallboard because it was a particle board mulch and plan to replace it with drywall. While the walls are off on the inside I want to add insulation. Currently there is only siding on studs. No exterior felt or paper between the siding and studs. And no insulation. I don't want a moisture problem so any suggestions on how to layer would be great. Taking off the exterior isn't really an option... The home is in the santa Cruz mountains. Warm dry in the summers, very wet and cold but not really freezing in the winters.
Thanks

I would insulate with faced fiberglass. Since you are cold in winter, put the vapor retarder toward the warm in winter side and you should have no issues.
