I puchased a 1946 home that I have been remolding. I have been striving to make it energy effecient. New Peachtree alum-clad wood windows with e-argon gas. Vinyl siding with 3/4 styro insulations. 12" blown in insulations. Tankless hot water heater, new appliances, new A/C. It seems the more energy efficient I make the house the higher my electric bill goes. Had the meter changed. My neighbor who has done nothing to his house has an electric bill that is 1/2 of mine as well as my neighbors. For example the weather has been nice so the window are open and the A/c is turned off. Yet my electric bill this month is no lower than last August when I ran the A/C all day and night. I am looking for a qualified person in Orlando who maybe able to figure what is consuming so much electic. I am at a loss on this one.
