I have a raised home on concrete piers with lattice surrounding the garage basement.
I had to add chicken wire all around the lattice to keep the squirrels, rats & birds out, but the former pest still finds its way in to nest or destroy the fiberglass insulation !
Is their a solid insulation (styrofoam) or and "Insuladd" paint that will insullate my ceiling, as it's open & not sheetrocked.
I'm ready to give-up to those "furry rats", as poison doesn't work eith and there's fiberglass all over the place!!!
What can I do ???
thanks, squirrel-strated !!! John I.

I would strongly recommend the feline solution. A few good hunter kitties will work wonders! My mother-in-law (she's 75) got a special nuisance permit and shoots them. This was AFTER they did $1500 of damage to her attic wiring!

EPS or expanded polystyrene(looks like styrofoam) should do the trick. they should leave it alone since eps is rigid and will only come apart as granule, if they eat some of it, you may need a bigger garbage, as they should die....if you want to be sure that this problem doesn't hapen again, you can use stucco on top of the eps, and you shouldn't have that problem again.
