Hello experts,

I'm building a home, and i have been reading about insulation products, methods, etc. Here in Monterrey, Mexico, climate is very similar to south Texas.

I read about things like ICF, fiberglass, cellulose. Here, we use concrete blocks, and there's a special block that has good insulation properties (well, that's what vendor says), however I'm not sure how to compare it. So I wonder if someone can take a look to it, and share what you think? One of their properties, they said it has a R value of 12. Not sure how good or bad it is.

From cost perspective, a regular block cost around .45 cents per sq f, and contec block cost around 2.5dlls per sq f.

Regular block R value is around 0.72 and Contec R value = 12. With this information, and cost, should i consider contect block? vs regular and add other insulation system?

Well, they sure do make a lot of claims, and then they make real technical information almost impossible to find, and I don't have a week to wade through their ponderous web site looking for what should be on the first page. Therefore, no comment, and some suspicion.
