Thinking of purchasing a houe built in 1947. The roof has a leak & a large chunk of sheet rock fell down. Looking into the hole, just above the rafters is an unknown material. It is a black almost paper like material (but not, as the water didnt make it fall appart). It is has what looks to be slats - for lack of better word. I pick off a small piece of the "paper" and behind it are small white-ish granuals or pebbles of somethings.
